Digital Media
What is Digital literacy? Digital literacy refers to an individual's ability to find, evaluate,
and clearly communicate information through typing and other media on various
digital platforms. It is evaluated by an individual's grammar,
composition, typing skills and ability to produce text, images, audio, and
designs using technology. While digital literacy initially focused on digital
skills and stand-alone computers,
Three ways traditional marketing is different to
Digital/social media:
1.
Traditional media is a one-way
conversation, whereas Digital/social media is a two-way conversation.
2.
Traditional media aims to market to
the masses, social media tends to connect on a more one-to-one basis.
3.
Traditional media is pre-produced and
scheduled, Digital/social media involves more real-time creation.
People create media for lots of reasons, for entertainment,
to educate and inform, to create a public forum for discussions of important reasons
(the internet is a democratic medium to express your opinion through things like
blogging and podcasting) and as watchdogs for business, government, and other
institutions.
What I learned from watching the three videos is that we
have a duty to produce media that is fact checked, when we are creating digital
media, it is our social responsibility to make sure we are not creating “Fake
News” I also realised how important ethical factors are when creating digital
media. Ideas can spread very quickly over the internet and can also be remixed.
