Production process
Design thinking is how you approach innovation, if you understand your customer’s needs, you will consider creating ideas with a more open mind, that will transform the way you develop products. When using design thinking, you make creative decisions grounded on what customers really want. It is important to be aware of what your customers need. Gather information by seeking inspiration and discovering new ideas. Use your research to help you “think outside of the box” making new solutions to the client’s problem. Build prototypes, check what is working and most importantly what doesn’t work, gather feedback. Show your ideas to your colleagues. Some of these steps may happen several times, and you may even jump back and forth between them. Moving through the phases of design thinking can take you from a blank slate to a new, innovative solution. When you are completely happy with your design show it to your client for approval.
There
are many digital media projects that could benefit from design thinking: web site
and web page design, video game design, social media content layout, electronic
books, and digital images to name a few.
The production process means the stages needed to complete a media
product, from the idea stage to the final product. The process can apply to any
type of media production including film, video, television, and audio
recording. The stages in each medium vary; for example, there is obviously no
storyboard in an audio recording. However, the same general concepts work for
any medium.
The three stages of production are:
1. Pre-production, which includes planning, making storyboards and
scripting
2. Production, recording and shooting
3. Post-production, everything else that is needed to create the master
copy.
It is also important to remember to consider:
Financing, which involves finding investors, creating a budget, and
forecasting.
Screenplay, this is a separate stage before pre-production.
Distribution, delivering your content to your audience after
post-production, film prints, SD card, USB etc.
