Introduction

 

My name is Jennifer Lynch, I am 44 years of age (which means I am probably the oldest student in Creative Digital Media!) I am married, I have two children, both boys, one fourteen-year-old and one eleven-year-old. I was a stay-at-home mam for many years, but I went back to work about five years ago in a post office. unfortunately, I lost my job when the Pandemic hit. I decided it was time to upskill, so I applied to study Digital Media Level 5 in Riversdale College. I really enjoyed my time studying, learning new skills, and improving some old skills. I performed very well in Level 5 receiving a Distinction, my career guidance teacher encouraged me to apply for further study. I would love to teach Digital Media, but I know I have a long way to go before I can do that, starting here in the first year of Creative Digital Media!

I have a mixture of emotions about starting in College, I am excited, anxious, uncertain and I have an overwhelming feeling of "information overload". I feel like I am juggling a lot of balls and that they are all going to come crashing down on my head, for example: Childcare, finances, time management, will I have enough time for my family, my relationship, my friends? Will I be able to pay for unexpected costs? How will I manage to stay on top of my assignments, stay ahead of my assignments? 

When I am feeling stressed out about something, I must remind myself about the positives in the situation. I am so happy that two of my fellow students from Digital Media level 5 in Riversdale are in my group in college, we are very supportive and encouraging towards each other. I am lucky that I have a very understanding Husband and two diamonds for children. I also know that I am a very determined person, I don’t easily give up.

I am excited to get started in college, we participated in a little taste of our modules this week, I think I will enjoy Visual Creativity because I love art and design especially mixed media and Digital Photography because I want to learn more about this subject. Web Development 1 is another matter!
