The penultimate project blog, how exciting!

The week started badly with the information that both Sophia and Kate were off College sick, as I was sick last week that puts our project nearly two weeks behind, we haven’t even started recording yet and myself and Kelly are starting to panic. This week Kate sent me an initial draft of the script, which was about five hundred words, I estimated that we need about one thousand words, so I edited and lengthened the script, and I made the final draft. I found it hard to edit Kate’s draft, it was stressful, but I managed to finalize the script. Kelly completed the animations and posters, and she also made a test recording on I Video to see how her animations and posters would look when played on screen together. Kelly and I broke the script into steps to co-ordinate with our running order for when we are recording. We then decided that maybe we should record ourselves to test out recording (and in case Kate and Sophia are too sick to record a video) and editing software. We asked our fellow student’s advice on which application to use for recording. Oscar and Finn suggested using “Iriun webcam” which links your phone up with your webcam on your PC. We had to install the “Iriun app” on our phone and our PC. (webcam, 2021) The lads also suggested that we use Open Broadcaster Software (OBS Studio) to capture our scenes for edited. Kelly and I headed to my house to start recording. Big mistake, huge mistake! My dog kept interrupting the recording, lesson learned, we need to find a quiet place where we will not be interrupted! While trying (unsuccessfully) to record we realized that the video that we did manage to capture was a little bit shaky, so I invested in a gadget for recording. I bought a LED ring light and tripod so hopefully that works, and we will have no more shaky videos. We realized after our test videos our sound wasn’t great either so the next time, we record we will use the Label mike that Kelly bought. Kelly and I wanted to meet up over the weekend to try and record again but unfortunately, we have so many other assignments that due next week so we have decided to prioritize our urgent modules and we will revisit our group project during next week and hopefully Kate and Sophia can help for the final push!
